All Saints’ Day

For centuries, All Saints’ Day has been a day for commemorating saints who are recognized by the Roman Catholic Church to be in heaven. There is a process the Church uses to determine who has attained this status. While I respect this practice, it is not one I adhere to as a Quaker. To me, All Saints Day could be a day for reflecting on those people, no longer living, who made a difference in my life for the good. They could be people I knew for only a day or for most of my life. And of course, such reflection doesn’t have to be limited to only November 1.
